Why
should we tell people about Jesus?
Sometimes you just gotta shut up and let God get the Word in.
“1 In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 This one was in the
beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and
apart from him not one thing came into being that has come into being. 4 In him was life, and
the life was the light of humanity. 5 And the light shines in
the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” (John 1)
“Abraham
will surely become a great and strong nation, and all the nations of the earth
will be blessed on account of him.” (Gen 18)
“5 And now if you will
carefully listen to my voice and keep my covenant, you will be a treasured
possession for me out of all the peoples, for all the earth is mine, 6 but you, you will belong
to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’” (Ex 19)
“16 Yahweh has made himself
known;
he
has executed judgment.
The
wicked is snared by the work of his hands. Higgaion Selah
17 The wicked shall turn
back to Sheol,
all
the nations forgetting God,” (Ps 9)
“27 All the ends of the
earth
will
remember and turn to Yahweh.
All
the families of the nations
will
worship before you.
28 Because the kingship
belongs to Yahweh,
and
he rules over the nations.
29 All the healthy ones of
the earth will eat and worship.
Before
him all of those descending into the dust will kneel,
even
he who cannot keep his soul alive.” (Ps 22)
“67 May God be gracious to
us and bless us.
May
he cause his face to shine toward us, Selah
2 that your way may be
known on the earth,
your
salvation among all nations.
3 Let the peoples praise
you, O God;
let
all of the peoples praise you.
4 Let the nations be glad
and sing for joy,
because
you judge the peoples with equity
and
guide the nations on the earth. Selah
5 Let the peoples praise
you, O God;
let
all the peoples praise you.
6 The earth has yielded
its produce.
God,
our God, will bless us.
7 God will bless us,
and
all the ends of the earth will fear him.” (Ps 67)
“Observe the lilies of the field, how
they grow: they do not toil or spin, 29 but I say to you that
not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like one of these. 30 But if God dresses the
grass of the field in this way, although it is here today and tomorrow is
thrown into the oven, will he not do so much more for you, you of little
faith?” (Matt 6)
“10 But Yahweh said, “You
are troubled about the plant, for which you did not labor nor cause it to grow.
It grew up in a night and it perished in a night! 11 And should I not be
concerned about Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than one
hundred and twenty thousand people who do not know right from left, plus many
animals?” (Jonah 4)
“14 “I am the good
shepherd, and I know my own, and my own know me, 15 just as the Father
knows me and I know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep
which are not from this fold. I must bring these also, and they will hear my
voice, and they will become one flock—one shepherd.” (John 10)
“22 You worship what you do
not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. 23 But an hour is
coming—and now is here—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth, for indeed the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers.
24 God
is spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
(John 4)
“Does
this cause you to be offended? 62 Then what if you see
the Son of Man ascending where he was before? 63 The Spirit is the one
who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you
are spirit and are life.” (John 6)
“14 “Do not let your hearts
be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house
there are many dwelling places; but if not, I would have told you, because I am
going away to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, so that where I
am, you may be also. 4 And you know the way where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him,
“Lord, we do not know where you are going. How are we able to know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I
am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through me.” (John 14)
“18 And Jesus approached and
spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
me. 19 Therefore,
go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to
observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days
until the end of the age.” (Matt 28)
“9 “Then they will hand
you over to persecution and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the
nations because of my name. 10 And then many will be led into sin and
will betray one another and will hate one another, 11 and many false prophets
will appear and will deceive many, 12 and because lawlessness
will increase, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures
to the end—this person will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the
kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all
the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matt 24)
“9 And when he opened the
fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered
because of the word of God and because of the testimony which they had, 10 and they cried out with
a loud voice, saying, “How long, holy and true Lord, will you not judge and
avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?” 11 And to each one of them
a white robe was given, and it was said to them that they should rest yet a
short time, until the number of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were
about to be killed as they had been were completed also.” (Rev 6)
“15 No longer do I call you
slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I have
called you friends, because everything that I have heard from my Father I have
revealed to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and
appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and your fruit should remain,
in order that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. 17 These things I command
you: that you love one another.” (John 16)
